08/31/05- 2006 FLORIDA CHAMPION SEASON UPDATE

I hope this letter finds you all well and I look forward to our 2006 FCS family reunion.

Planning and preparation for the 2006 race season has already begun and it is already showing signs of an even better season. Many of our 2005 season sponsors have committed to return and continue their support as well as several new sponsors committed to joining the family. I am currently soliciting support so if you are interested or know someone who may be please send me their contact information or ask them to contact me so that I may discuss with them all available opportunities to be part of this great family.

I have received a tentative schedule from the WKA for the 2006 Manufacturer and Gold Cup seasons. At this time I am in the process of contacting and discussing with various tracks their available dates, conditions of use and their master track status. Please remember that many things must be considered when negotiated the schedule such as but not limited to; Facility condition, facility availability, sanctioning body race schedule and time of year just to name a few. In addition as of now we are planning on running a six race series with the best 5 out of six being used for points transfer. We will also award 50 bonus points again for participation in all six races.

Please check the web site regularly for more updates and if you are unsure if we have your email address or are in need of updating any of your contact information please email me at goneracinagain@bellsouth.net

Also we have a new FCS logo which we unveiled at the 2005 awards banquet. It's awesome, professional and serves to help us continue to establish our identity as one of the strongest WKA sanctioned division series in the nation.

I look forward to seeing you all soon and look forward to an even stronger 2006 race season.

Peace,
Neal R. de Jesus
2006 FCS President/Series Director

5/24//05- Homestead Karting Update- TaG Classes are now offered! Tony Schroeder formerly of Easykart is now promoting TaG racing at his track in Homestead. All TaG racers welcome!
5/02/05- SERRT members made the trek to Ocala GP and met up with George and the locals for a fun night of racing. Turn out was low since there was a strong chance of rain. Weather cleared around 3:00 and racing started not long after. Thanks to the Gamblin's for the pic's.

2/14/05- Seems only yesterday Arsenal Pro Racing hooked up a young Chris Festa with his first kart suit and kart stand then continued assisting team Paul Tracy in the development of his karting. Congratulations Chris as he will be the first driver we worked with to make it to the Indy 500. From Karts to cars on no time! Chris will be driving the Spacepak Infiniti in the Infiniti Pro Series.
01/20/05- From WKA Florida Championship Series- Race #1 is in the history books and it was wet, dry, wet and dry again!  Race # 1 was off to a very soggy start with Friday’s practice conducted under continuously rainy conditions.  On Saturday it was mostly dry under threat of rain on and off thru most of the day and on Sunday yet rain again before clearing up mid morning.  The inconsistency and uncertainty of the weather made decisions difficult at times for the competition committee. After brief deliberations and cooperation from the weather it was slicks once again and we were off to the races for the rest of the day under near perfect race conditions. Even the inconsistency of the weather didn’t keep the racers away.  It was great to see the pits full once again with people having to pit out in the over flow lot.  All in all it was a great weekend of racing with 162 entries in both 2 and 4 cycle classes. The addition of the TAG class proved to be a great decision with 11 entries and great competition. Unfortunately the addition of the Animal class was a bit disappointing with only 3 entries in the medium class. We look forward to those numbers increasing significantly at Jacksonville since they run a strong contingency of Animals at their club races.  We look forward to them joining us for the rest of the series.

Although the early sunset proved to be challenging our Race Director (Wayne Vensel) Head Flagman (Dan Barcy) Grid Steward (Josh Slentz) Registration, Timing and Scoring (Julie Slentz and Michael Vensel) and tech (Vinnie and Brian) worked awesome as a team and helped to run a tight ship collectively which kept us on course.

Once again Pastor Todd Shaw of On Track Ministry was back to support us and as usual not only did a great job in ministering to folks but lent a hand wherever necessary.  He is quickly gaining a reputation of being the fastest Pastor with out wheels.  Some say his lap time may be quicker than ICA’s.  I would certainly be remiss if I didn’t thank my long time partner and wife Lourdes for helping me with preparation, trophies, copies, phone calls, errands and whatever else needed to get done as well as serving as the series photographer which has already proven to be very popular.

I would like to thank all of our sponsors including our Series sponsors Easy Kart America and Catalina Furniture Racing as well as all of our class sponsors; Arsenal Pro Racing, Caribtrans, Coldwell Banker, Lourdes de Jesus, Realtor, Coulter Motorsports, Kart South, Homestead Karting, North Florida Kart Club, Ocala Gran Prix, Prime Motorsports, RöKen Racing, SunStream Hotels and Resorts, Terrell Duke Masonry, TS Racing, West Coast Karting and West Coast Mold and Engineering.  As many of you are aware Mr. Jim Booth an independent owner/operator of McDonalds restaurants stepped forth at race one with a very generous donation to help us make race 5 at Daytona a reality and we are working with them to finalize those details.  All of these sponsors generosity collectively help us to do what we do even better.

Lastly, I would like to thank you all the Florida Championship Series family for without your participation we would not have a series.

In closing thank you all for your continued support and again I challenge each of you to invite someone to come out and race or even just watch.  In the meantime Gods speed and God bless.

We will see you all in Jacksonville! Peace, Neal R. de Jesus 2005 FCS Presidentnt/Series Director

01/07/05- First pic's of the new Parilla X30 TaG motor, And the new Vortex Super Rok
01/07/05- WKA Florida Championship Series Prepares to Launch the 2005 Race Season.  With nearly 200 2 cycle and 4 cycle entries expected the Florida Championship series (FCS) will start its 2005 race season at West Coast Karting in Naples Florida January 14-16, 2005.  This is the first of 5 stops in the series that traverses the State before culminating on June 3-5, 2005 at a location to be announced.  “We are excited about the 2005 season” said Neal de Jesus the FCS President and Series Director.  “We have had a renewed sense of interest to participate and become involved from racers and their families as well as a very encouraging financial commitment from corporate and individual sponsors.”

This year the FCS is offering greater incentives for pre-registration for individual races and even greater incentives for full pre-season registration as well as multiple class discounts. There is still time to take advantage of these savings but you must act quickly.  Pre-registration entry forms must be post marked by January 7, 2005.

The FCS will strive to promote the great sport of karting in a family friendly environment which fosters stronger relationships.

For further information and entry forms log onto www.flwkasprintseries.com or you can call Neal de Jesus @ (954) 558-4734.

Turner Butler) Starting at 6:00pm and concluding around 9:00. Only drivers who attended 12 races will qualify for awards and free dinner. Which by our count is only 16 drivers, only 3 of which are Sr. 2 cycle. Should be a short banquet. All other members are welcome but will be charged $25. per person which includes meal. This venue was a great Idea! Who thought of it? ;-) Get your reservation in before November 15th.  Should be much more fun than years past, Too bad it conflicts with a SCRA race date, Maybe next year for drivers who race both tracks. :-(
